Welcome to today’s episode of The Startup Chat with Steli and Hiten.  Today the topic is quitting.  We both love the model of success influenced by the action films of the 80’s where the hero goes through awful things and at the end finds success.  There are times though when you must decide to change or quit what you’re doing and that’s what we’re talking about.

Steli talks about his framework for knowing when to quit.  As long as during the majority of the day you are believing in yourself and your idea, and the time spent in doubt is in the minority, then keep doing what you’re doing, but try to improve.  But when the pendulum swings the other way and doubt fills your head the majority of the day, then you don’t have your passion and it’s time to stop.

Hiten takes a love it or change it approach.  Ask yourself if you love what you’re doing and if you don’t it’s time to change the way you think about it, stop doing it or change it.  Ask people close to you if you are at your best at that point in time.

Today’s Tips:

Hiten: If you’re thinking about quitting, just quit.  It’s the easiest thing to do.

Steli: If you have a hard time quitting and accepting defeat, just take a vacation from it.

If you have questions, got feedback or want to discuss any of the topics further, there’s now a place to do just that: The Startup Chat Facebook group. Just go to TheStartupChat.com/fb, join the group and say hi!  Look forward to seeing you in there.
